What Matters Most

You might want a new shower, but are nervous you have to be home for weeks. You might have stories of remodels dragging on longer than what was initially promised. You don’t want a remodel to get in the way of your work or personal life.
Shugarman’s Bath has completed more than 6,500 tub and shower remodels. The majority of our projects take 1-2 days to complete. In rarer cases, they can take 3-5 days depending on the scope of the project. We’ve completed enough remodels to know what timeline to expect.
This article covers how long a typical shower remodel takes, what can add extra days, and how a 1-2 day shower remodel is possible without cutting corners.

Most shower remodels with Shugarman’s Bath take 1-2 days. Some projects can take 3 to 4 days.
Your installation day is short because most of the planning happens before the crew arrives at your home. Check out our step-by-step installation guide to see exactly what happens when your installers arrive.
The type of job affects how long your remodel takes. Here are some jobs and timelines you can expect:
These are estimates for a typical job. Underlying issues in the tub and shower area can shift your timeline.
One of the most common occurrences is finding underlying issues once demolition starts. This means moisture damage, wood rot, termite damage, mold, pests, or plumbing issues.
Shugarman's Bath fixes these issues in the tub and shower area at no extra cost since they’re covered under the Never Any Extras Guarantee. In rare cases, another trade may need to get involved, which can extend your timeline. For example, if we find pests in your tub and shower area, you would need to find a pest removal service to take care of the issue.

A tub and shower remodel can move quickly because of the premium materials used for a shower remodel.
Many tub and shower remodels use traditional tile-and-grout methods that take longer. A traditional tile shower uses cement board, a waterproofing membrane, thin-set adhesive, tile, and grout. Grout alone needs about 24 hours to dry before the job can be finished.
Some installers also waterproof the shower floor with a method called hot mopping. This older method applies hot, melted tar in layers over roofing felt. It requires extra cooling time between layers, and the full tile installation process takes about a week.
Shugarman's Bath uses premium materials that can be installed efficiently without cutting corners. Your walls start with a moisture-resistant backer board that has a built-in barrier to stop water at the surface. Over that goes your custom BP-Cor2 wall panel, which we seal with high-grade silicone at every edge.
You aren’t waiting for materials to cure, since they arrive ready to install. Plus, one dedicated crew handles your project from start to finish.
Every Installer starts as an Installer Assistant, then works toward becoming an Apprentice Installer before leading projects on their own. Our installers have the experience to perform a high-quality tub or shower remodel. Every installation includes planning and quality checks to make sure your 1-2 day remodel is done right.
