What Matters Most

Adding a seat to your shower remodel is a good idea. The problem is that there are so many options to choose from. Most product pages give you the specs and stop there. They don’t go into their benefits and drawbacks.
Shugarman’s Bath does offer the corner shower seat as a remodel feature and knows it well. We know this seat does not work for everybody.
This candid review covers the corner shower seat's criteria, how it holds up, where it falls short, and who should and shouldn't consider it.
Table of Contents:
Here are important specs for the corner shower seat:
The corner seat is bolted directly to the wall with reinforced backing behind it. It is fixed in place and set at a standard height of 17 to 20 inches above the shower floor, which is roughly the same height as a standard chair.
A corner shower seat is typically farther from the showerhead since it sits in the back corner of the shower. If you are planning a remodel that includes a corner seat, it might be worth adding a handheld shower head with reach. If you want, you can put a handheld shower head next to the corner seat.
A corner shower seat can’t be installed on a shower base narrower than 32 inches. This seat also cannot be added after the fact unless the proper backing was included in the original contract.

The surface is textured with the same BP-Cor2 material that you would find on shower floors, which has a grittier texture than the smooth wall colors. The texture is built into the material.
The seat is bolted to the wall and fixed in place, with a 935-lb weight capacity. It can handle plenty of weight. That said, standing on the seat is a safety hazard, especially when wet.
This seat is non-porous and designed to withstand constant moisture and daily use for years. The BP-Cor2 material is non-porous and antimicrobial.
Shugarman's Bath backs it with a lifetime warranty. If something goes wrong, we will take care of it.
This seat works well for adults who want a permanent, built-in seat. It is a practical choice for anyone dealing with mobility or balance concerns. It also makes sense for adults planning to age in place. The color options cover the full BP-Cor2 lineup, so it can match your walls or stand out depending on what you want.
This seat is not the right call if your shower base is narrower than 32 inches or if the $1,200–$1,600 price range doesn’t work for you.
Some homeowners don’t like the look since it takes up a corner. It might make the shower feel “choppy.” It takes up more space than a folding seat but less than a bench seat.
If a corner seat doesn’t work for you, a design consultant can walk you through other seating options.

The corner shower seat is a permanent addition to help make your showering experience safer and more comfortable. It’s worth adding to your tub and shower area if you want something built to last and help in your day-to-day.
Now that you have more information on corner shower seats, maybe you are looking for something that saves space. Consider whether a composite folding shower seat might be a better fit for your lifestyle.
