What Matters Most

  • The Certificate of Completion is a communication tool that keeps your install on record and gives you a direct line back to Shugarman's Bath after the installer leaves.
  • If anything is still outstanding when the form is signed, it gets written down, scheduled, and followed up on by the next business day.
  • Signing the form is not a final release. You still get a closeout call. Your lifetime warranty and Shugarman's Bath's support stay in place long after installation day.

Some contractors will have you sign some type of form to signify the completion of your remodel. It leaves you wondering what happens if you find an issue or need to schedule another service. Will anyone pick up the phone? Or does signing that form mean that’s the last you'll hear from them?

Shugarman's Bath has completed more than 6,000 tub and shower remodels. In that time, the Certificate of Completion has never been a goodbye. It's a communication tool that keeps your install on record, documents anything still outstanding, and gives you a direct line back to the Shugarman's Bath team.

This article shows you what the form covers, what Shugarman's Bath does with it, and what to expect after signing.

Table of Contents:

What Is the Certificate of Completion?

At the end of every Shugarman's Bath install, the installer hands the customer a Certificate of Completion. It's a 1-page form with 11 questions. You fill it out, keep the original, and Shugarman's Bath takes a photo to file.

The form is not a legal release. Signing it does not mean the project is closed or that you give up any rights.

It's a communication tool to let the office know exactly where things stand when the installer walks out the door. The certificate creates a direct line from the customer back to the team so that nothing slips through.

What Does the Certificate of Completion Cover?

The certificate of completion will ask you 11 different questions across three categories.

Full Shugarman's Bath Certificate of Completion with all questions

The first question covers work completion. Were all the goods and services from the purchase agreement delivered? If not, there's a space to write exactly what's still outstanding. The installer fills in that section so the customer knows what else needs to be completed.

The second category covers the physical inspection. The customer and installer walk through the silicone quality, surface condition, drain flow, and both the fixtures and connections.

The final portion covers overall satisfaction. These questions ask how you would rate the installer on a scale of 1 to 5, whether the installers were courteous and respectful of the home, whether the workspace was left clean, whether care and maintenance instructions were given, and whether the details about the referral program were shared.

What Happens If Something Isn’t Finished When the Form Is Signed?

If something isn’t finished, the installer will circle “no” to the first question and write what’s still outstanding. From there, a service is created in Shugarman's Bath’s system. The job moves to pending service status.

A team member reaches out by the next day to confirm the plan and schedule the follow-up visit.

Does Signing the Certificate of Completion Mean the Project Is Over?

No, signing the certificate is not a final release. The primary point of the certificate is to report where things stand at the end of the project.

Every Shugarman's Bath customer gets a closeout call after the install, regardless of how the form was filled out. That call is another chance to flag anything that needs attention.

Even after the closeout call, your remodel has a lifetime warranty. If something is wrong with the shower months or years from now, you can call Shugarman's Bath to have it fixed.

What If a Homeowner Feels Uncomfortable Filling It Out in Front of the Installer?

We get it. Filling out a rating with the installer standing right there can feel awkward.

If you want to fill the form out and send a picture over after the installer has left, that is perfectly fine. The form doesn’t need to be filled out on the spot.

How Is Shugarman's Bath’s Certificate Different From Other Remodeling Companies?

Some remodeling companies treat the completion form as a final release. The customer signs, and the company says, “Okay, we’re done here.”

For Shugarman’s Bath, the form is to check in and see how happy you are with the remodel and service. The relationship doesn't end when the installer leaves. The certificate is only a record of where things stand at one point in time.

What Should You Expect at the End of Your Install?

The Certificate of Completion is less a certificate and more of a check-in on your project and your satisfaction with it. Plenty of customers come into a remodel worried about what happens once the installer leaves. The form is part of the process. Anything outstanding gets written down and scheduled before the job closes out. No matter how you fill it out, a closeout call follows every install.

Before you get to the Certificate of Completion, there is a full installation process that leads up to it. Learn more about the step-by-step process of your tub or shower remodel.
